Site Changes

Posted: Tuesday, March 13th, 2007 @ 10:39 pm in News, Administrivia | No Comments »

I’ve added 5 pages to the sidebar to list which bills have passed the House, Senate, been sent to the Governor and signed or vetoed. Governor Perdue has only signed one bill so far, a local bill for Carroll county.

With almost 2000 bills & resolutions introduced and only 13 left in the session, this will help keep track of what is moving.

Format Changes

To our fellow readers,

It seems our friends down in the General Assembly like introducing bills. They like it so much that about 75 were introduced on Thursday. This has been flooding the front page with posts making it harder to find the news. Therefore we’ve changed the format of the site slightly. First we’ve removed all the resolutions recognizing or commending such-and such. Second, the main page will only display news related posts, not the legislation. Instead we’ll post once a day announcing the new bills that have been introduced.

What does this mean for you?

Well hopefully it will make the site more readable. If you want to view just the legislation, you can go to the legislation list page. If you’re reading this site via an RSS feed and want to just get the news you’ll need to change the RSS feed to: http://georgialegislativewatch.com/feed/?cat=33. If you want to setup a separate RSS feed for just the legislation use this URL: http://georgialegislativewatch.com/feed/?cat=2

Whats next?
Post another update for all bills that make it out of committee.

Some administration…

Resolutions celebrating the birth of or commending someone as well as invitations to the State House or State Senate and other things to that effect are being removed from public view. A lot of those types of resolutions are a waste of space for the most part and don’t really serve the purpose of this site.

Also, we’d like to welcome Adam Fogle to the front page. You may know Adam from Peach Pundit. We look forward to his contributions to the site.

Viewing by Interest

Thanks to Radical Georgia Moderate Rusty, we now have the ability to rank bills by interest. If you’re logged in to the site, you can click on the stars below each post and rank the bill based on importance.

If you just want to see whats new then visit the link above “View by Interest”.
