Here are some sounds from the first day of the 2009 Georgia General Assembly.
- Oath of Office (8:01/7.4MB): The oath of office administered by Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sear.
- Election of the Speaker (4:11/964KB): The House takes nominations for Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives and Glenn Richardson is re-elected. The Clerk of the House, Robbie Rivers, is the presiding over the House.
- Comments by Minority Leader Porter (1:01/962KB): Porter, on behalf of the Democratic Caucus, declines to offer an opponent to Richardson in a spirit of bi-partisanship.
- Presentation of the Speaker (1:22/1.3MB): Glenn Richardson is presented as Speaker of the House and gives a brief speech.
- Porter on proposed Rules (4:11/3.9MB): Minority Leader Porter speaks against the proposed Rules and urges the body to vote them down due to the Hawks provision.
- Smyre on proposed Rules (3:28/3.2MB): Rep. Calvin Smyre (D) speaks out against the proposed Rules.
- Keen responds to Porter (2:27/2.3MB): Majority Leader Jerry Keens responds to comments by Minority Leader Porter.

I hope they plan on fixing the draconian, unconstitutional sex offender laws. And when is Jerry Keen going to be out of office so we do not have to worry about him anymore?
